    • The Seven Sacraments

Christ instituted the seven sacraments of the New Law as signs of grace and essential moments in the Christian life. They correspond to key stages of natural life and guide the believer from birth to death in the spiritual journey:

      • Baptism – New birth in Christ

      • Confirmation – Strengthening by the Holy Spirit

      • Eucharist – Spiritual nourishment

      • Penance (Confession) – Forgiveness and reconciliation

      • Anointing of the Sick – Healing and comfort in illness

      • Holy Orders – Ordination for service in the Church

      • Matrimony – Sacramental union of husband and wife

The sacraments give life, growth, healing, and mission to the Christian faith. Learn more about each below.

    • anointing of the sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick offers Christ’s healing, peace, and strength to those who are seriously ill, preparing for surgery, or experiencing the frailty of old age. While physical healing may occur, the primary grace is spiritual strength—a deepened trust in God and courage to face illness.

An Anointing Mass is celebrated once a year, but the sacrament is available anytime by contacting the parish office at  419-524-2572.

    • Baptism

Baptisms are celebrated on the second and final Sundays of each month at 1:00 p.m., following the 11:30 a.m. Mass.

      Baptism Preparation

If this is your first child or you haven’t previously attended a baptism preparation class, please contact the Parish Office at  419-524-2572to register for the next available session. This required class provides an overview of the sacrament and a walkthrough of the baptismal rite.

      Godparent Requirements

      Godparents must:

      • Be practicing Catholics

      • Be at least 16 years old

      • Have received the Sacrament of Confirmation

      • Actively live their faith through Christian witness, service, and prayer

Only one Catholic godparent is required, though two are highly encouraged when possible.

    • confirmation

Confirmation, along with Baptism and Eucharist, is one of the Sacraments of Initiation, fully welcoming a person into the life of the Church. In Confirmation, the baptized are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened to live out their faith in service and witness.

Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to His disciples, and through this sacrament, that same Spirit empowers us today.

      Youth Confirmation Preparation

      • Begins in 7th grade

      • Sacrament celebrated in the fall of 8th grade

      • Classes held on the second Wednesday of each month

For more information, please contact the Parish Office at  419-524-2572.

    • first communion

Preparation for First Eucharist typically takes place during 2nd grade. Children may prepare by enrolling in St. Peter’s School or through the Parish School of Religion (PSR).

The use of bread and wine in worship has deep roots in the history of God’s people. In the Old Testament, bread and wine are recognized as gifts from God, offered back to Him with praise and thanksgiving for His many blessings and signs of grace.

One early example of this is the story of Melchizedek, the priest who offered a sacrifice of bread and wine in thanksgiving for Abraham’s victory (cf. Genesis 14:18). Similarly, the sacrifice of a lamb during the harvest season was a way to thank God for His provision and care, acknowledging the gift of new life and sustenance for families and communities.

    • holy matrimony

Marriage is a sacred and lifelong commitment—a vocation in which husband and wife grow closer to God and to each other in a life-giving community of love. In the Church, marriage is a Sacrament, a living sign of Christ’s love.

Getting Married in one of our Tri-Parishes

      • Please contact the Parish Office at least 8–12 months before your desired wedding date to begin the preparation process. 419-524-2572

      • Couples are required to meet for marriage preparation sessions with one of the three priests serving our tri-parishes.

      • In addition, participation in a Pre-Cana marriage preparation retreat is required. Retreats are offered in the Toledo, Columbus, and Cleveland Dioceses, and the Parish Office will provide links and information for all available options.

      • Please note that additional steps and requirements are part of the full marriage preparation process, and the Parish Office will guide you through each one.

    • holy orders

Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, men are ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops, consecrated in Christ’s name to serve the Church through Word, Sacrament, and leadership.
